Sam I Am
First and foremost I am a Mum. My beautiful boy Jack is such a blessing and I feel so grateful everyday to have such a gorgeous little man in my life. Each and every day I am amazed at what Jack does and how quickly he is growing. I can hardly keep up with him now. We live on the Sunshine Coast, a beautiful town in Queensland, Australia.
My husband Mike and I are also big thinkers. Ever since I was younger I didn’t like the idea of working for someone else. I always had a little entrepreneurial spirit in me. We dabbled in traditional business and in my home town of Port Macquarie we opened our own fish and chip shop. We thought we had hit the jackpot!! Our very own business that was going to make all our financial dreams come true. It did make us great money. We were able to travel, buy a house, heck Mike the avid pilot was even able to buy his very own plane. But owning a traditional business also came with a lot negatives. The hours we had to put in were ridiculous! We couldn’t choose when we worked. We had to work weekends and nights and holiday seasons. We had to deal with all the pressures of staff, customers, suppliers and it never ended.
So we gave traditional business a good hard crack and after a few years we begun our search into finding a business where we could still make great money, but have the time and freedom to enjoy it.
In 2008 we discovered the home based business world and our lives haven’t been the same since. We have experienced some great travel to Hawaii, LA and Puerto Rico to name a few. We have met some amazing people and have friends all around the globe. We knew we would never go back to traditional business. We love the time and financial freedom a home business offers.
After having Jack I decided to take a year off. I couldn’t even keep up with the housework so I decided that having a break would be the best for myself and Jack. I wanted to focus on being the best Mum I could be without any other distractions. I got to spend the year watching him and helping him develop into a happy, confident little boy. I am so grateful to have been able to spend so much time with him but now I feel it’s time to get back to business. I missed it much more than I expected. Jack is now happy playing and dancing to the Wiggles so I feel I can leave him to it while I do some work. The big thing for me is that I don’t want to be putting Jack into day care. Having a home based business allows me to choose the hours I work so I can fit the business into our lives. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
